Deborah Berryman is known for her infectious passion for the practice and for life.  Drawing on over 15yrs of teaching experience, she is passionate about yoga and meditation and sharing the benefits of a regular practice.

Although she’s a thoroughly modern yogi, her practice and teachings are deeply influenced by the beautiful philosophies and great mystical teachings of Yoga’s rich history. She strikes that balance of touching the deeper & more profound aspects of our practice and ourselves, whilst also rediscovering a lightness and playful side – very life-affirming!

Deborah is the founder and Director of Whitespace Yoga & Wellbeing Studio in the UK and holds the highest level of certification from Yoga Alliance Senior Yoga Teacher (SYT) and British Wheel Diploma (BWY), as well as an accredited Mindfulness (MBSR) Teacher from Bangor University and Advanced Therapeutic Restorative teacher (Judith Lasater)

If you’d like to stay at the house on a ‘Home Stay’ basis – where meals will be provided and you can enjoy the view, this can be arranged separately by contacting our host – Dominique Gill at dominique@exceller.org.

Guests can also go on to spend a few days in nearby Ottawa, to make the most of your time in Canada.

LOCATION

Our Birchmore Retreat is set within 30 acres of Canadian forest, surrounded on three sides by the waters of Lake MacGregor, with a path that leads down to two private docks on the lakeshore. Our secluded home has a large open plan living/dining area with cathedral ceilings and incredible views of the Lake, as well as a dedicated Shala Room, screen porch and large sun deck. Here we get to really experience the true essence Canadian ‘Lake-Life’.

Just 25mins away, Canada’s capital Ottawa sits just over the mighty Ottawa River in Ontario but reflects both English and French cultures. With a population of just over 1 million, the city is small by comparison to Toronto or Montreal and houses the National Museum and Art Gallery – with several traditional open street markets and beautiful parks making a day trip a worthwhile excursion from the quiet seclusion of the Lake. The nearby Gatineau National Park offers some beautiful walks and cycle trails, with stunning views of the Champlain Valley and the city.

Flights leave the UK from London Heathrow (HTW) London (LGW), Manchester (MAN), Bristol (BRS).  Sky Scanner is an excellent service that takes the hassle out of booking flights.

For those of you who prefer to travel in company, we recommend flying with direct with Air Canada. They have a direct flight on Tuesday 15th September at 11.05am (we strongly recommend staying at the retreat an extra night to ‘land’ gently, relax and enjoy the house). Then flying back Tuesday 22nd September. We can connect everyone who is on this flight, so you can meet at either Heathrow or Ottawa airport and travel together.

The extra night and help transfers can be arranged separately by contacting our retreat host – Dominique Gill at dominique@exceller.org
