Give yourself and your students a gift…
Itâs easy to be swept away by the demands of modern life…
And todayâs pace of life means people are often in a state of high alertÂ
causing their bodies to be flooded with stress hormones that stimulate the âfight or flightâ response
This affects everything, from our ability to:
âŚsleep soundly
âŚdigest our food
âŚfocus and be present
âŚfeel grounded throughout every day
âŚfunction in our day-to-day roles
And even our ability to conceive a child
Whatâs more, 1 in 3 adults report having experienced some sort of developmental trauma in their lives
…Whether relatively minor, or a major traumatic event
In fact, we all experience at least one of these symptoms as a result of our experiences
So how does Restorative yoga help?
Teaching and Practicing Trauma-Informed Restorative Yoga can be a powerful tool in aiding the process of regulating the nervous system
And help undo the effects of stress
Bringing about a sense of feeling grounded, calm, relaxed and safe
So Restorative yoga is considered the true antidote to stress
âŚbecause it allows us to relax deeply with awareness
But what does that mean exactly?
âRelaxing with awarenessâ means consciously allowing yourself to first notice thatâŚ
Â
So practising relaxing with awareness becomes the key to:
…unlocking stress and restoring your mind and body to a state of balance or homeostasis
…in a similar way to meditation
Your teacher for this 4-day Restorative immersion is Whitespaceâs founder, the teacher of teachers Deborah Berryman.
In Deborahâs own words,
âTo feel the power of the practice for myself, and to see it in my students’ faces, it absolutely convinced me to train as a Restorative teacherâŚ
…to have that complement of learning how to sit still, and to truly nourish ourselves in rest is one of the greatest gifts that we can give ourselves and students.â
But Iâm not a teacher⌠is this for me?
If youâve read this far, chances are eitherâŚ
âŚyouâre a yoga teacher interested in taking your teaching to the next level with these powerful skillsâŚ
âŚor youâre a dedicated yoga student, with a minimum of one year’s consistent practice, or a health professional, looking to explore the healing powers of Restorative yoga for your own needs, or to broaden your knowledgeâŚ
So if this is you, you donât want to miss this!
This is an incredibly powerful practice and training
âŚWhat will you come out of it with?
Deborah will introduce you to the practice, concepts and true benefits of these techniquesâŚ
Whether you teach others or youâre interested in this for your own practice
So youâll come out of this trainingâŚ
Sounds good? Great!
And how do the days look?
Each day includesâŚ
Restorative practice
  as well as meditation
    and self-reflection
Weâll approach these from three angles
Â
And weâll explore these key topics:
Â
âŚtraining you how to apply all this wisdom into your personal practice or teaching
For teachers specifically, this training will also provide support with verbal cueing and set up of postures, sequencing, and creating a safe space for all students
In addition, youâll also do your own daily practice during the course as well as journaling
How many hours is this course?
Ok. What certification will I get from this training?
Whether just starting the journey as a Yoga Teacher, seeking to enhance existing teaching skills or simply wish to develop their personal practice…
this course is a welcome study immersion for yoga teachers and teachers in training
to refresh, renew and to deepen their practice and teach authentically…
grounded both in self-awareness and experiential knowledge
Itâs also open to dedicated yoga students (minimum of 1 year’s consistent practice) wanting to deepen their understanding and practice of yoga
and health professionals (e.g. Osteopaths, Psychomotor Therapists) keen to broaden their knowledge and skills (please note, this wouldnât certify you as a Restorative Yoga Teacher)
If youâre a teacher:
You will earn a Whitespace 50-hour trauma-informed Restorative teaching certificate, which is accredited by the Yoga Alliance Professionals
And these training hours can be used for CPD points with other organisations, e.g. Yoga Alliance, British Wheel, General Osteopathic Council (please check with your professional body for details)
If youâre not a teacher:
And youâre doing this training for your own personal development, youâll earn a Certificate of Attendance, which will help to open up new opportunities for you as you continue your personal yoga journey
Who is Deborah?
Meet your teacher
Deborah is a âteacher of teachersâ, and runs national and international retreats, workshops and teacher trainings
She is the founder and senior faculty member of Whitespaceâs Teacher Training Programme. And holds the highest level of certification from Yoga Alliance
Known for her infectious curiosity for the practice and for life, her trainings are always insightful and great fun!
Deborahâs journey with Restorative Yoga started many years ago with the great Simon LowâŚ
⌠and she studied for many years with internationally renowned Judith Lasater, assisting her training in the UK and completing her Advanced Therapeutic Restorative Teacher Training
Drawing on over 12 years of teaching, Deborah brings her wealth of experience and passion for Restorative yoga, to explore with you how to relax and rest deeply, and share the tools and life-enhancing benefits of regular practice
She strikes that balance of touching the deeper & more profound aspects of our practice and ourselves, whilst rediscovering a lightness and playful side⌠which is extremely life affirming!
Deborah believes that to free the body, we must first understand how everything integrates, and how we can support all aspects of the self to bring about healing, by exploring both the functional as well as our emotional and energetic patterns
But donât take our word for it! Read for yourself what our past Restorative students made of this trainingâŚ
âThe quality of this training was exceptionalâ
I believe this training was delivered exactly as described and did not feel compromised at all by being online. I certainly got what I came for and a whole lot more! This stuff is not just about rocking out some shapes, it is about personal transformation, about changing the way yoga teachers teach all of their classes, it is about changing lives.

Â
âExceeded my expectationsâ
Just to say another thank you for the training this week. It was amazing and exceeded my expectations. Loved connecting with you, the tone, the pace, the content – just what I needed.
– Ann
Â
âReally can’t think of anything I would changeâ
Gave me the confidence in knowing you have the ability to not only teach better, but live a better life. Overall a friendly, encouraging and knowledgeable course with a good sense of humour. Keep it real!
– Sarah
Â
âWonderful course, phenomenal teacher and something I will cherish as a yoga teacher whenever I hit my own mat or teach others.â
I really loved the Trauma informed Restorative Yoga teacher training. The thing that I have benefited most from was the self-practice embodiment assessment. I am using it everyday, and it is hard to say exactly what it does to make you feel and operate differently but it does. That has been a total eye opener and will make a real difference to the way I teach. Thanks Whitespace!
– Jane
Â
âA fantastic course and inspiring teacher – super informative and a great experienceâ
I want to say a big thank you to Deborah for organising this course. She is a really nurturing, grounding teacher with a lovely influential manner. Having not experienced much restorative yoga before, feeling confident with what I have learnt, I have now incorporated it into my practice and have begun to teach others. There was a great structure and pace to the course allowing a lot to be fitted in.
– Abi
Â
âI thoroughly enjoyed every single day – Grateful for the whole experienceâ
Deborah youâre an amazing teacher, it certainly didnât feel like a boring learning environment. I must admit, I was a little sceptical about attending something like this online, but it worked and Iâm certainly coming round to the idea of doing more online. I loved the content of the course, it was all really relevant and the practical elements of the training were so powerful. Being able to experience them was amazing and I can honestly say life changing. Not being a teacher myself, it was a little daunting being thrown into teaching during the practical sessions but at the same time, this is the best way to learn and it was nothing I thought I couldnât do. I genuinely loved every minute of it and canât wait to share what I learnt from it with as many people as possible. I loved the hour of restorative at the end of the course, a really nice gesture and treat. Deborah, I am genuinely grateful for the time, effort and love that you put into delivering the course. Your passion for restorative yoga shines through in your teaching. From the bottom of my heart thank you!
– Kay
Â
âWow⌠what a journey this week has been!â
Just the right amount of content and not flooding my brain, every day was recapped which I need for processing information better. Practising on others straight away meant the nerves for teaching and learning, with a bunch of lovely people, was good. I canât fault the content, the practical, the knowledge of Deborah. Definitely recommending this⌠Thanks a million Deborah.
Â
âI will be recommending this course to everyoneâ
Please express my gratitude to Deborah who was a wonderful teacher throughout. I got a HUGE amount from the training and I believe some big pointers for my own life going forward. Deborah was kind, respectful, supportive, informative and generally everything I needed from a course and I am so pleased I attended. There is absolutely nothing I would change about Deborah’s teaching other than seeing her in person and giving her a big hug to say thank you. It has brought up an awful lot for me to attend to in my own life, but has also opened me up to such possibilities. Thank you.
– Emma
